LIGHTING OF A WOODEN ROOF
For several
years now the use of wood for ceilings and roofs, whether to be restored or to
be built in new structures, is frequent. Homes, attics, but also old lofts to
be used as offices or laboratories. Wooden ceilings, horizontal or pitched, are
a must. After all, we have all had the opportunity to perceive the charm of
wood, both old-fashioned and new, in a modern key, in natural or bleached
color. Even a bare two-room apartment will be optically wider and more spacious
having a wooden ceiling. It has the power to dress and heat any environment.
And if wood
"looks good on everything", it cannot be said of lighting. Rooms with
exposed beams often have particularly high or otherwise low ceilings.
Furthermore, wood by its nature does not reflect light but absorbs it. With
such ceilings, an accurate choice of lighting is essential. Light is needed to
allow us to exalt the masterpiece above and to efficiently illuminate the
below. The advice is to rely on expert technicians during the lighting system
design phase. There are special aero-illuminating calculations (RAI) that allow
you to parameterize spaces, heights, windows, and types of surfaces present
(reflecting or not), and advise us with scientific certainty how much and how
to illuminate our spaces to live them in the best and healthiest of ways.
Once the
needs are clear, you can indulge yourself with your aesthetic taste and choose
the tools to use to give light to your spaces. With the presence of wooden
ceilings, we often opt for the classic and timeless tracks. They can be
stretched everywhere and are particularly useful in lower ceilings. They are
positioned above the spotlights that you can freely move and direct at will.
The led strip lights, masterfully applied along the exposed beams or the trusses, in wood
or in iron, have great and more recent diffusion, they manage to create
splendid plays of light. In the case of very high ceilings, it is usually more
appropriate to insert light points on the wall, roughly at the height of the
man or strategically position the uprights.
The
solutions are many and satisfy the most demanding tastes. And if you have a
green spirit it is better to opt, where possible, for the use of LEDs, which
heat up less and guarantee considerable energy savings. They are available in
both warm and cold light, there are also colored ones. In any case, they create
a "magic" light effect on the environment. A nice combination of
efficiency and style.
